            vdot[i] =  lam*a[i-1]*v[i-1] - (lam*a[i]+gam*c[i])*v[i]
        else:
            vdot[i]=  lam*a[i-1]*v[i-1] - (lam*a[i]+gam*c[i])*v[i]+ 
                                                     gam*c[i+1]*v[i+1]
    return vdot
